It was Clint’s dream to be able to bring a Youth Track & Field event to Grundy Center where not only his children could participate, but to allow for the surrounding area youths to get excited about track and field in general.

What is a Hershey Track and Field Day and how do I sign up?

Hershey Company promotes Track and Field with youth meets throughout the country.  Local qualifying meets like this one are a fun way to promote track, and can qualify you to move on to state, regional and national Hershey meets!   Register for our local meet online and see what events are available at http://www.hersheystrackandfield.com.   Our local event starts at 4PM at the Grundy Center High School Track.

You can also register or ask questions by contacting Jenn Flater, meet coordinator, at jflater@oldcastlematerials.com or by calling her at 515-229-6770.  Pre-registration by April 29th will make you eligible for additional prizes!   You may also register on race day starting at 3:00pm till 3:30pm at the track.   Hershey qualifying events are for ages 9-14.  (Your age placement is determined by your age as of December 31, 2012.)  Hershey fun events are for ages 2-8, which include short races, crab race, shoe kick and more!

Ribbons for all participants.

What is the Memorial 5k Race?

The Clint McMartin 5k memorial race is a fundraising event for a scholarship in honor of former Grundy Center Track Coach, Clint McMartin.  All ages are welcome to participate, from kids to seniors. To register for the 5k contact Brian or Janet Buhrow at 319-824-5575 or bjbl@gcmuni.net.  Pre-Registration cost is $25 by April 18th and $30 thereafter (includes t-shirt and bag).  You can same day register starting at 1:15pm on race day.  Race starts at 2PM at the Grundy Center High School Track.

Info for Everyone

Free admission for spectators means everyone can have a fun time watching the meet.  Food is provided for a free will donation by 2 Coats Ministry.  T-shirt, sports bag and bracelet sales help our scholarship fund.  T-shirts $10, bags $5 and bracelets $1 are available on site.  We also welcome individuals or businesses to sponsor our meet.   These levels will be recognized on the t-shirts if you contact us prior to April 18th. Contact person is Brian Buhrow, 319-824-5575 or bjbl@gcmuni.net.  Gold level: $100 or more, silver level: $50, Bronze level: $25.  Thank you to our past and present sponsors, volunteers, parents and most of all participants for making this a great event!  Please plan on joining us on May 6th.
