Dear Parents,

Just a few days left of the 2016-2017 school year! I want

to again thank all of the staff at Grundy Center Elementary for

making our school a warm and welcoming environment where

we take teaching and learning seriously, but have a lot of fun

along the way! Also, thank you to the parents who have so

graciously supported their children whom we are proud to work

with at our school.

We have a few new faces coming to Grundy Center

Elementary next fall! Although we are sad some of our

teammates are leaving, we are very excited to bring in top notch talent! Mrs. Kassandra Albright,

who previously spent four years with BCLUW in 4th grade and special education, will be teaching

third grade next fall. Mrs. Stephanie Smith, A former 3rd/4th grade teacher at St. Pat’s in Cedar

Falls, will round out our excellent third grade team. Joining us in transitional kindergarten this fall

will be Mrs. Amber Haskovec, who previously taught preschool and first grade in the Bosco School

System. Moving down from middle school special education will be Mrs. Sarah Dier, who will join

us for part of her day. We are very excited to have these talented teachers join our team!

Our Teacher Leadership program will be stocked with veteran teachers dedicated to using

their leadership skills to help our school community. Returning as our Student Achievement

Coordinator is Mrs. Jan Lindeman. Our Lead Teacher role will see the return of Mrs. Sue Graham,

who will also have some release from teaching time in order to be in classrooms. Our Mentor

Teacher rolls will be filled by Abby Hendershot, Jama Johnson, Katie Lechtenberg,

and Tara Liston.

There are many opportunities for your children to engage in reading this

summer. We strongly encourage making reading a daily habit, and even more

importantly, reading for FUN! Below are some of summer reading resources the

students have been introduced to.
