its 91ST Induction Ceremony, Thursday, February 22, 2018. Fifteen new members were inducted
into the chapter: Seniors, ZACHARY OSGOOD and CAMERON STEENHOEK from the Class of 2018;
Juniors, BRIANNA BROWN, BROOKE FLATER, LANDON GRAHM, ANNA HOLKE-FARNAM, ERIKA
JOHNSON, AUSTIN KNAACK, CALEB KUIPER, SARAH LINDEMAN, SYDNEY MATHEWS, MADISON
McMARTIN, HAILEY WALLIS, KYLIE WILLIS, and REEGAN ZINKULA, from the Class of 2019. These

pinning the new NHS members.
These fifteen students bring the total to 953 GCHS students who have been inducted into the chapter
since the first induction ceremony, February 9, 1927. Maggie Gray, whom the chapter is named
after, was a 1918 GCHS graduate. She returned to teach in Grundy Center following her college
education, and was a teacher, advisor and principal in the school system for forty years.

NHS is founded on the principles of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. The students
who qualify complete an application and then are selected by the high school faculty. All of the NHS
members’ names dating since 1927 are listed in the National Honor Society Honor Board in the
Grundy Center High School Commons.
