COVID-19 Update - SCHOOL CLOSURE

Dear Grundy Center Students, Parents/Guardians, Teachers, Staff & Community:

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: Per the Governor’s recommendation related to COVID-19 the Grundy Center Community School District will be closed effective immediately, starting back on Monday, April 13th. Further communications will be forthcoming to staff via email about job assignments beginning on March 23rd.

Additional direction for teachers & support staff will be communicated directly to individuals before the end of the week (Friday, March 20) via email.

Students in grades 6-12 & staff are allowed to use their school issued devices at home during the closure.

Hawkeye Community College (Concurrent Enrollment Classes) - Any students currently taking classes at HCC should plan to resume classes in an online fashion starting on Monday, March 23. Check with your instructor and on Canvas once spring break has ended for how to proceed.

The entire school district campus (all buildings / facilities) will be closed to EVERYONE until further notice except for essential personnel at the discretion of the Superintendent.

No school activities of any kind will be allowed while closed.

Students will be provided optional educational enrichment opportunities via the student GC Learning Online website at www.gclearningonline.com. These will become available the week of March 23rd.

We are striving to meet our public community school responsibilities and serve the larger common good. We will send further communications as information and guidance are secured. Corona Virus Shutdown Computer Repair Procedures

We understand that students will be relying on district owned devices during these troubling times. We also understand that repairs may be necessary and we are going to offer repair drop off and pick up at the secondary building.

When: M,W, F at 9:00-9:30 am and 1:00- 1:30 pm
Where: HS Commons door entrance.
What to Bring: Computer, only bring your charger if you are having charging/ starting issues. DO NOT bring your computer bag.
What to do before: Please wipe the outside of the computer and charger with a sanitizing wipe if possible before you bring it in.
Safe Procedures: Your computer will be handled by staff wearing gloves and will be wiped with sanitary wipes before it is returned.

You will enter the furthest West door. You will be instructed to place the computer on a table and we will be 6ft away to record your name, the issue and a call back number. You will not be allowed past that point during this drop off. We will not be taking or returning computers outside of these time slots.

When your computer is repaired you will be contacted on when to pick up. (same location)

We will continue this service through the shutdown providing we can maintain our cleaning supplies and our health.

If a shelter in place order is given by the Governors’ office this will program will cease immediately.
