Grundy Center High School The Grundy Center Community School District serves the communities of Grundy Center and Holland (approx. 114 sq. miles). K-12 enrollment is stable at approximately 650 students. Our staff consists of highly qualified award winning teachers and coaches. Our student to teacher ratio is 13-1. Grundy Center has cutting edge technology. Students have a 2-1 student to computer ratio at all levels. The entire campus is wireless along with several multi-media projectors for use in classrooms. Students have the ability to create and produce using technology. Technology standards are in place for both students and staff. All staff are issued lap tops to promote technology utility. The Spartans are involved in 27 extra-curricular activities. 91% of our high school student body is involved. The Spartans have a tradition of excellence in sports. The G.C. Spartans were named the “All Sports School” for the conference (2003-2007). The music department offers GC Jazz, GC Noteables, MS and HS show choirs, Madrigal/Acappella singers, bass and treble clef choirs and a mixed chorus of 110+ students. Band instruction begins at 5th grade as part of our outstanding instrumental program. Concert, Pep and Jazz Bands find Division 1 Ratings to be the norm. The Visual Arts Department features certified teachers K-12. The VA department offers a variety of programs including Fundamental Art to Painting to 3-D, to ceramics and beyond. Digital photography and graphic design students enjoy a computer lab with state-of-the-art equipment and software. The Academic Decathlon Team has dominated competition with State Championships in 2005 and 2006, five consecutive top three finishes 2003-2007, along with six Regional Championships since 1999.
Post-Secondary Education Over 85% of our graduates pursue post-secondary education. Recent ACT scores are above the state average. The average graduate has earned 8-10 hours of college credit while attending high school (some 30+ hours).
