I am excited and honored to be chosen as the new Superintendent of Schools for the Aplington-Parkersburg and Grundy Center Community School Districts. Both Districts have a rich tradition of success. The Boards of Education and staff demonstrate a commitment to student support, to participation in enrichment activities, and to student achievement. The cooperation and respect offered to and amongst the neighboring Districts are admirable.

I look forward to continuing to support the meaningful work already in place. Both districts evidence success. The two Boards complimented each other with high respect and cooperative processes. The shared superintendency benefits each

district. The central office personnel participated in the interviews with the Board of Education. The school finances and system structures are very stable. We will build off this success to refine and further propel the great school initiatives.

Both districts have incredible leadership teams. The administrative teams offered districtwide tours. Our conversations were meaningful and rich in history. The staff was extremely welcoming and articulate in sharing information about the great instructional practices they have in place. Aplington-Parkersburg and Grundy Center Community Schools stand out as high quality educational systems that are truly doing what is best for students.

My family and I can’t wait to be part of the Cedar Valley region. There are many treasurers in the two school districts. The business, recreation, and opportunities abound in the different communities. We are especially drawn to the rural communities that are in close proximity to Cedar Falls / Waterloo and our extended family. The cooperative nature of Cedar Valley West

and the various sharing agreements demonstrate Aplington- Parkersburg and Grundy Center’s commitment to excellence. It is an honor to serve these two magnificent communities.
